A One-Day Furniture Shopping Route in Dubai: Al Quoz, Sheikh Zayed Road and d3

Dubai residents furnishing a new home are choosing from a very large market: Overture Maps Foundation lists 538 furniture stores in the emirate. A single day cannot cover that, so the route has to be built around three areas where showrooms, galleries and design brands sit close together. Solomia Home, the Dubai showroom for italian furniture brands (Flexform, B&B Italia, Boffi, Porada, Versace Home), stocks living, dining, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor furniture, lighting and rugs in its online catalogue. Pair this plan with our guide to choosing design and build or separate fit out contracts so deliveries match your project timeline.

  • Start in Al Quoz when Alserkal Avenue opens, and park once rather than driving between showrooms.
  • Book d3 for the afternoon and check which brands are trading there before you go.
  • Carry samples, not stock: anything bulky is delivered, so ask each showroom about delivery before you pay.
  • Ask for a dated invoice that names the seller and lists each item, price and quantity.

Where should the route start in Al Quoz?

Al Quoz is the practical starting point because it is a former industrial area, and the large warehouse floors are why so many showrooms here can display full room sets. Alserkal Avenue, which Alserkal itself places in the Al Quoz industrial area, is the anchor for the morning.

Alserkal Avenue says it welcomes almost 2 million visitors a year and brings together more than 90 creative businesses across art, design, food, performance and lifestyle, with 17 galleries anchoring the art side. The general opening hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, but each business keeps its own hours, so confirm the ones you want before you set out. Use the gallery and concept stores to judge finishes, scale and lighting, then walk the surrounding streets for the showrooms.

How do you get around Al Quoz and Sheikh Zayed Road?

Drive if you plan to buy, because the alternatives are slow with samples in hand. Alserkal’s visitor guide directs drivers from Sheikh Zayed Road through the Al Manara exit (Exit 43) into Al Quoz, then via First Al Khail Street and 17th Street to 6A Street, where a large parking area serves the pedestrian entrance. It notes more than 500 RTA parking spaces nearby, paid with the parking code 364C.

The same guide names Onpassive Metro Station (previously Al Safa) as the nearest metro stop. Bus 110 runs every 12 minutes from Al Safa Bus Terminus, and the walk takes 30 minutes. Metro also has limits for shoppers: RTA’s Dubai Metro baggage policy allows two suitcases per passenger, the large one no bigger than 81 x 58 x 30 cm. That suits fabric swatches and tile samples, so anything larger should be delivered.

What does Dubai Design District add in the afternoon?

Dubai Design District (d3) is the region’s first and largest design district, established in 2013, with more than 550 partners, more than 10,000 professionals and over 50 local and global retailers. It suits the afternoon because it is a planned district, not a street of warehouses. Studios, retailers and cafes sit within walking distance of each other, and the retail directory shows which brands trade there.

Use d3 to compare design ideas and commission pieces rather than to carry anything home. Ask each retailer how long made-to-order items take and what the delivery terms are, and get the answers written on the quote.

Which brands are worth checking before you go?

If Italian houses are on your list, look at the brand’s own store page before you drive. Boffi’s store locator includes the Emirates among its store regions, and the same check applies to Flexform, B&B Italia and Porada. Showrooms for these brands may stock only part of a collection, so ask whether the piece you like is on the floor, available from stock or built to order.

The answer decides how you pay and plan delivery. Our feature on classic Italian villa interior design and our guide to outdoor majlis design for UAE villas help you decide the pieces to shortlist before the day starts.

What should you check before paying?

The UAE Government portal summarises Federal Decree Law No. 5 of 2023, which amends Federal Law No. 15 of 2020. It requires the supplier to give you a dated invoice with the trade name, address, type of goods, price and quantity, in Arabic. Contract clauses that exempt the supplier from its obligations are void.

The same page says suppliers who fail to repair or replace a defective product free of charge face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to AED 2 million. In practice, keep the invoice, photograph any damage on delivery day, and put warranty terms and the delivery date in writing. For a dispute you cannot resolve with the seller, the Ministry of Economy takes consumer calls on 800 1222.

What does the one-day route look like?

Plan the day in this order: Alserkal Avenue when it opens at 10 a.m., the showrooms around it and along Sheikh Zayed Road through the middle of the day, then Dubai Design District in the afternoon. Keep the payment check for every stop where you commit to a purchase.
